Press Invite: AAP starts manifesto making process

August 31, 2014 02:27 AM

aam Aadmi Party has adopted a revolutionary process for finalising the party’s manifestos – the party plans to create 70 different manifestos for 70 assembly seats in Delhi along with a main manifesto for the national capital. For this, AAP has started doing nukkad sabhas and also going door-to-door asking people about issues that they think should be included in the manifestos.

The process has already been kick-started in New Delhi assembly seat from where Arvind Kejriwal would contest elections against Shiela Dikshit. In Phase 1, around 32 meetings have been planned in the assembly. The response so far has been overwhelming with people coming forth in large numbers to share the local problems that people face in their locality on a daily basis. In a meeting held yesterday at Kali Bari Marg, more than 200 people participated and discussed their manifesto.

This process would be started in Patparganj vidhan sabha from tomorrow. Manish Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate from Patparganj, said that “democracy should be ‘by the people, for the people, to the people’. Unfortunately, in today’s time the duty of a common man has been reduced to voting once in 5 years. After elections, people are made to run from pillar to post for getting even basic issues sorted out. This would change only when people start participating in Democracy. Aam Aadmi Party wishes to encourage people to participate in Democracy, one of the ways for doing so is by involving people in manifesto making process.”
The first meeting initiating the manifesto making process in Patparganj vidhan sabha would be held tomorrow. The details of the meeting are as under:
Date: September 22, 2013 (tomorrow)

Time: 12 noon

Venue: North A-Block, Gali No-2, Yuva Chowk, West Vinod Nagar

Please find attached an invitation letter that will be circulated to people in the meeting for registering their views on what should be included in the party’s manifesto at their locality level, Assembly level and state level.
